I work with, teach and demonstrate a variety of fiber arts including traditional rug hooking, toothbrush rugs, broomstick rugs, wagon wheel rugs, shirring, locker hooking, proddy rugs, wool appliqué, knitting and crocheting and braiding.  I love working with recycled items to turn them into rugs, purses and wall hangings.  I have had several articles featured in Mary Engelbreit’s Home Companion Magazine, Rug Hooking Magazine, and ATHA.  Some of my work has won ribbons and awards at Sauder Village in Ohio and at the Missouri State Fair.  I have pieces in the books, Hooked on Rugs and Creative Hooker by Jessie Turbayne, and designed purses for the book, Hooked on Wool, published by Martingale, pieces in Hooked Rugs Today, by Amy Oxford and Contemporary Hooked Rugs by Linda Rae Coughlin.  I had a rug in an international traveling rug hooking exhibit and catalog, The “Art” of Playing Cards.  In December of 2012 I demonstrated rug hooking on TV in California.  My recent Presidential Project was in the Webster-Kirkwood Times in August 2013.  I currently work out of my studio in the city of St. Louis.  I teach in my studio and across the country at workshops.  I also do rug repair and historic demonstrations.

Check out my work!

Dear Nola,
I have a hooked rug of my grandmothers that was damaged by water;however there are parts of it that are still in decent condition. I was wanting to have 4 of the "good parts" cut from the rug and bound to give to my siblings for Christmas. The local carpet store cannot bind the rug since it is hooked, so I am wondering if you can help. Thanks in advance.

Nola I bought one of your finished pieces at Marilyn Schmidt's house in KC when you were visiting one time. It was a comical rooster-rust background, beige body, black and grey polka dotted legs, yellow and gold yarn as a border. (6 1/2 x 8 1/2). I have a friend who would like me to make her one. Do you have any more of those roosters?
Thanks.
