I have been passionate about photography for as long as I can remember. For what once seemed like a fascinating hobby is turning into something so much more. I completed 5 years in college majoring in photography and love every facet, whether its a beautiful landscapes while traveling, detailed nature of this Earth, the emotions of your wedding day, or simply the personality of a graduate who is ready to take on the world. Life just happens and your pictures should reflect that raw emotion that life brings your way. These are all memories and deserve to be preserved for you to enjoy and look back on. I hope to continue blessing people with my work and look forward to the journey ahead that the good Lord has planned for me. God Bless!!

My gourd work is inspired by a whimsical view of the world.  Although I have experimented with many of nature’s materials, the lowly gourd really caught my eye.  The number and variety of gourds and their individual imperfections provide a blank canvas for the adventurous artist.  Over the past six years, I have pushed the envelope of creativity to produce a number of unusual pieces.  My gourd purses, vessels, and other oddities are designed to provoke unexpected attention and amusement.  Approaching my gourd work with passion, I derive joy from taking a product of nature , applying an imaginative design and finishing with a unique piece of artwork.

Hello and thanks for stopping by! My name is Joshua Spengler, and I am a photographer from Highland, Illinois. I have been shooting for almost 9 years now.  I have won awards in juried shows both in Missouri and Illinois. You could say my work can be best described as Americana, and naturescapes. I love to photograph classic Americana scenes because I believe these places hold a special place in everyone’s heart.  These America scenes best describe a simpler time in history.  Nature is another passion of mine. Having the opportunities to photograph Mother Nature in all her beauty is a privilege that I am blessed to have. I personally believe that if my work  can reach out and touch someone just by a simple glance, then I know that I have truly  accomplished something! Remember all photographs have meaning(s) is just up to us to find them!

I live in Illinois with my husband, two growing children and a big tabby cat.  We live in a small town and I love it!  I enjoy gardening, which is where I find most of my inspiration.  I appreciate the colors and the peaceful feeling of nature and I paint items that give those same feelings back.  What makes me happy is when viewers have that same connection to something I’ve painted.  I’m self-taught and have been drawing since childhood, but painting came later for me.  My work has changed from painting with watercolor on paper, to acrylic on canvas and now with porcelain paint on ceramic pendants.  Each piece of my hand painted jewelry begins with a ceramic “canvas”, which is hand made by a talented ceramist.  I paint as much detail as possible and use the smallest brushes I can find!  I have more ideas than I have time and I’m grateful for that, because I look forward to many years of creative and fulfilling work.

"Mystery is at the heart of creativity. That, and surprise.“  Julia Cameron.  I love the process of painting. . .and I am constantly amazed when my paintings begin to take on a life of their own. I'm never quite sure what the end result will be. . .and of course, I'm not always pleased. But I do always enjoy the process.  Thank you for looking at my work. Each piece is an original and will come signed.
