Andrea Berry

My work is constantly inspired by the colors, shapes, textures and materials of the natural world. Working with plant and animal fibers further enhances that connection. When I shear our sheep Sparky, dye her wool, spin it into yarn and weave cloth with it, I'm participating in the natural world in a unique way. I hope some of that feeling comes through in these pieces, so that those who wear or use them will feel connected and inspired as well."

I work with, teach and demonstrate a variety of fiber arts including traditional rug hooking, toothbrush rugs, broomstick rugs, wagon wheel rugs, shirring, locker hooking, proddy rugs, wool appliqué, knitting and crocheting and braiding.  I love working with recycled items to turn them into rugs, purses and wall hangings.  I have had several articles featured in Mary Engelbreit’s Home Companion Magazine, Rug Hooking Magazine, and ATHA.  Some of my work has won ribbons and awards at Sauder Village in Ohio and at the Missouri State Fair.  I have pieces in the books, Hooked on Rugs and Creative Hooker by Jessie Turbayne, and designed purses for the book, Hooked on Wool, published by Martingale, pieces in Hooked Rugs Today, by Amy Oxford and Contemporary Hooked Rugs by Linda Rae Coughlin.  I had a rug in an international traveling rug hooking exhibit and catalog, The “Art” of Playing Cards.  In December of 2012 I demonstrated rug hooking on TV in California.  My recent Presidential Project was in the Webster-Kirkwood Times in August 2013.  I currently work out of my studio in the city of St. Louis.  I teach in my studio and across the country at workshops.  I also do rug repair and historic demonstrations.

Amanda Nuckolls
O’Fallon, IL

Amanda Nuckolls has been making art of various mediums since the age of 3. She grew up in a family that owned an arts & crafts business and was often a regular contributor to the many products they offered.  In 2009, after spending the last 20 years around llamas and alpacas, she decided she would obtain her first llama, “Oh My Darling, Clementine”. The acquisition of Clementine, combined with her lifelong love of the agricultural world, playing outside and “making stuff”, helped to spark the idea of GnomeAcres. When GnomeAcres came to fruition in late 2009/early 2010, Amanda saw it as an opportunity to pursue her true passions.  Amanda has a background in website design, website development, e-commerce, online marketing, radio, newspaper, photography, woodworking, tractor riding and professional clowning. Because of her vast knowledge in these areas, all of GnomeAcres show displays, product packaging, promotional materials and websites are created in-house by Amanda herself.

Rosemary Claus-Gray
Doniphan, MO

Rosemary is a fiber artist inspired by the lines, shapes and color found in nature. She creates in a minimalist and abstract style. Drawn to the work of artists who are painters, she often thinks of her work as painting with fabric. She uses sheer and translucent fabrics to merge one value with another, resulting in very subtle color shifts. She uses hand and machine stitching as a mark-making tool, giving definition to positive and negative shapes, adding texture and the illusion of depth.  Retired from work as a clinical social worker, she is now a full-time studio artist. Her art is an expression of her faith, joy of life, and inner peace that brings balance to her life.  Rosemary has an extensive resume of shows, awards and publications.
